OSA PENINSULA & CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK

WELCOME TO THE OSA PENINSULA

Located in the South Pacific region. Referred to as the "Amazon of Costa Rica," this part of the country used to be an island. Thus, species started to evolve separately until the area rejoined the mainland. As the largest park in Costa Rica (technically a lowland rainforest), Corcovado encompasses one-third of the Osa Peninsula. The park is custom made for the eco-adventurer who would thrill to run across any of the 140 different mammal species. As for birdwatchers, the whole of the Osa Peninsula is an avian paradise that plays host to more than 400 species of birds, including the endangered Scarlet Macaw. Per National Geographic, Corcovado National Park is "the most biologically intense place on Earth."
